From the time we start pre-construction on a custom home in Star Valley, Wyoming, to the time you move in, there can be as many as 150-200 different trades-people coming in and out of your home to work. These trades-people, know as subcontractors, make up the bulk of the work force that will end up building your home. Working with the builder, subcontractors execute the blueprints and plans that bring your home from paper to reality.

When drywall goes up, the panels are screwed to the framing and the seams between them are taped and coated with joint compound. How many coats get applied, how smoothly they are sanded, and what surface prep happens before paint determines the drywall finish level.

When you build a smaller footprint, you aren't downsizing, you are upgrading. You are trading underutilized hallways and cavernous, empty guest rooms for the ability to obsess over the details that you actually touch and see every day.
